Whatever your own office area is – a large corporate office with your own booth/workspace, a small business office with your own (or maybe shared) desk, or small home office area with one desk – you'll need some kind of office storage if you want the office space to function properly. Paperwork, filing, stationery, peripherals, etc. - these all need to “live” somewhere without cluttering up the office. Problem is, office storage itself takes up space(!) so we need to think about how much office storage we really need – and where we're going to fit it in to our office space without swamping the office with too much furniture.
Many people will “think small” and buy office storage, maybe a filing cabinet, which is too small for their needs, is quickly filled with files and paperwork and then they have to buy more storage – with limited space to put the additional storage. I would argue it is best to “think big” and find office storage which will more than big enough for storage or filing and will easily last for a couple of years – if you have enough office space, of course.
Some people know they will only need an additional small amount of office storage for peripherals and stationery, so perhaps a smaller, portable desk pedestal to go under or besides their office desk is plenty of storage for them. Mobile desk pedestals, with 2, 3 or 4 drawers take up very little space and are portable, light and easy to move. Again, if space is an issue these pedestals are ideal as their tops can also act as an additional worktop, perhaps for an office printer , desk tray or fax machine. I highly recommend desk pedestals as office storage in a home office space for all these reasons. Security pedestals also offer security for personal items with lock and keys, and with various drawer heights for different sized files, and number of drawers available, the options are really good.
You may have different ideas(!) and have the space or staff needs to get larger office bookcases, shelving units, office cupboards or filing cabinets.
