Around The World in 20 Office Chairs

Something we've increasingly noticed about many office chairs these days, is that they are named after places. Barcelona, Tromso, Manitoba, Dakota, Orlando (the list goes on!) as well as the older established names used for office study chairs like Chesterfield, Richmond and Warwick. The question is; do people buy them because they have BEEN there, or do they buy these office chairs because they wish they WERE there, or hope to go there someday?

It's a growing trend with office chair manufacturers to use place names and we suspect that they are using people's desire to “get away from it all” as an opportunity to sell their chairs. Saying this, some of the names used are not exactly “dream destinations” for most of us, so perhaps this only applies in some cases. There may well be a few cases where the place name used actually does have relevance, either to the style and design of the office furniture or to the traditional home of the piece of furniture.

Either way, we thought we'd travel around the globe and highlight some of the fantastic office chairs now on the market that have place names. This trend, by the way, does extend to other office furniture, like the Alphason CLEVELAND Glass Desk Workstation, but we will focus on office chairs for this whirlwind world tour.

We start our trip in England,UK. The most well known and most popular of all the office chairs with place names are probably CHESTERFIELD leather study chairs, classic, traditional office or study chairs which are top quality and have been around forever, and the slightly less well known, but very popular WARWICK leather executive armchairs. Both high quality, well made, leather office chairs that are built to last. Similar to the Warwick leather armchairs, and still in England, RICHMOND executive leather chairs are a more modern design executive office chair but are of the same high quality. A very similar office chair can be found just down the road from Richmond, with KNIGHTSBRIDGE cream leather office chairs. These chairs are similar in both design and quality, and both are very popular.

Looking across the water to the USA, we have some great office chairs.
